Dear Colleagues;
Over the past century, our Otolaryngology specialty has witnessed a huge evolution in medical technological advancements and surgical treatments for many disease processes. The operating microscope, fiberoptic telescopes, advancements in imaging systems, and robotics, are only a few of the many advancements that have revolutionized the way we diagnose and surgically treat diseases of the ears, nose and throat. Minimally invasive surgical procedures, such as endoscopic sinus surgery, have allowed otolaryngologists to manage very symptomatic, and often disabling, obstructive inflammatory disease processes affecting the nose and paranasal sinuses, on an outpatient basis. Additionally, endoscopic sinus surgical techniques have been applied to the fields of neurosurgery and ophthalmology, to transnasally remove even the most complex benign and malignant tumors affecting the skull base and orbit, through a team approach. In neurotology, there have been advances as well, from skull base surgery, to endoscopic otologic procedures, and cochlear implantation for deafness. Similarly, in facial plastics and reconstructive surgery, new surgical techniques and implantable materials continue to be developed for facial rejuvenation, beauty enhancement, and to reconstruct complex head & neck defects secondary to the disfiguring effects of cancer surgery or trauma. Our educational programs listed on this website are designed to provide the participant with all the clinical pearls, technical expertise, and training with latest technological tools needed to enhance their surgical skills. At the completion of our training programs, the participant always leaves with a greater understanding of the complex anatomy and the latest surgical techniques that are necessary to care for one’s patients in a safe and cost-effective manner.
